Garmin’ Xcountry National Triathlon Championship 2019

General Information

The ‘Garmin’ Xcountry National Triathlon Championship 2019 is sponsored by GARMIN Malta and organised by Agones Sfc under the auspices of the Malta Triathlon Federation.

The event will be held on the 11th August 2019.

Start 7.30am. ( Bike check in closes at 7.00am, briefing at 7.15am )

Start and Finish will take place at Xghajra. (Subject to changes)

The race is on a sprint distance with the distance being 750m swim (approx.), 18km Bike (approx.), 5km Run (approx.)

Swim will be 1 loop, Bike 3 loops. Run 2 loops.

In case of rough seas the event will be changed into a duathlon with the swim being replaced by a 2.5km run ( 1 loop)

Fees for this event are;

Early Bird fee (End of June)
Club members €20 Individual €25 Relay: €35 euro per team
Normal Participation fee
Club members €25 Individual €30 Relay: €40 euro per team

Registrations close on Thursday 8th August 2019. No applications will be accepted after this date.

Timing chip distribution and briefing will be held on the day of the race 15 minutes prior to the Start.

The triathlon is draft legal and valid for the TOYT point system.

Numbers and borrowed number belts and timing chips are to be returned to the organisers at the finish of the race. If numbers and belts are not returned you will be marked as NON FINISHERS. Riders who do not own their own timing chip will need to hire one for €5 from the timing team.

Numbers are to be worn in front during the runs and on your back during the cycle.

Route will be closed to traffic but farmers and residents will be able to access the route. Please make sure you DO NOT PARK along the route. Cars parked along the route WILL BE TOWED AWAY.

There will be a water station near the Bike / Run Transition. In order to help the organisers and to make sure we leave the place clean we encourage everyone to throw the cups/bottles and papers in the bins which will be placed along the route. Failing to do so may incur into time penalty.

Helmet an swimming cap are obligatory and athletes cannot compete with a bare chest ( concessions can be made for the swim )

Prizes will be given to the first three finishers in each category and 1st placed in each age group. A commemorative token will be given to all the other participants.
